Experiencing Europe: Serbian Young Professionals in Austria - Zoran Djindjic Internship Program

ruzica_djindjic_and_gerhard_jandl_ambassador_of_austria.jpgDr Zoran Djindjic Fund together with Austrian Development Cooperation and organization WUS Austria launched an internship program titled Experiencing Europe: Serbian Young Professionals in Austria - Zoran Djindjic Internship Program. The aim of the program is to help advance professional skills of young people from Serbia and gain new skills and experience that will help them in their future work in Serbia. This program is a result of Austrian willingness to continue supporting the Fund Students and young professionals will spend two weeks in Graz where they will attend German language course and lectures about European integration. After that up to fifty participants will depart to Austria for their internship.

Students and young professionals who met the criteria, forty-two of them, spent two weeks in September 2007 at the University of Graz, where they attended an intensive German language course, as well as lectures on European integration processes. Also, during the interns' time in Austria, a meeting was organized for them with the Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Ursula Plassnik, who stressed that this project was a major gesture of support for Serbia, since young people symbolised Serbia and its future. After the language course, the interns headed off to begin their three-month work experience in companies such as Fabasoft, Porsche Holding, Raiffeisen Zentralbank, Bluewaters, INIQA, Siemens, DPS Software, or in institutions such as the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and the Austrian Institute for International Affairs.

Ružica Djindjic, President of the Management Board of the Zoran Djindjic Fund, said, "This program represents the continuation and substantial enhancement of the Fund's activities. I am glad that our Austrian partners have recognised the significance of this kind of cooperation and have enabled a number of young professionals to expand their knowledge and experience by working as interns in Austria. I am convinced that the partnership we have begun will rapidly bring tangible results and mark a new stage in the cooperation between our two countries especially the young people who are prepared to take their place in the course of modern European thought and practice."
Nina Radosavljević, intern, 2009. generation: After the completion of my undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Architecture, Experiencing Europe Program is the highlight of my professional development. I interned from January until April 2010. at project office Zinterl Architekten in Graz. The atmosphere was highly professional, I worked independently on two national public competitions, which requires wide knowledge of various fields of architecture and competitiveness. This will help me in my future professional orientation. I hope that, as a new generation of young professionals, we will be given the opportunity to implement the knowledge and experience we gained to help in the development of Serbia. Through this program I met interesting people, young intellectuals. I will surely continue my friendship and cooperation with them, and as a team we will build a new base for a European Serbia. I would like to thank Zoran Djindjic Fund for this wonderful experience and for their support to my future career. I am glad you believe in us
Mirko Dautović, intern, 2007. My internship placement was with the non-governmental organisation HORIZONT3000. The programme gave me an opportunity to learn about the issues that will be of importance to Serbia when it begins moving towards membership of the EU, and this adds to the value and relevance of what I have learned; on a personal level, this three-month stay alone in a foreign country is contributing to my maturity. There are few opportunities to prove one's worth and so I am glad to have been offered this chance."
Sofija Vojnović, intern 2007: Programme "Experiencing Europe" offered me an opportunity to fulfil my ambitions after graduation. The preparatory module and visit to Graz and Vienna are great experience for me. Well organised German language course, exceptional lectures about EU integration, reception at the Austrian parliament and the ministry of Foreign Affairs, made me feel like a young professional from Serbia on his way to “experience Europe”. Starting from January 2008. I will start my internship in Vienna in "Michaeler & Partner", company dealing with consulting, project management, and development of tourism. I am very satisfied with my internship, and I hope that this experience will help me in my professional life in choosing my future job.
